Captain Silver (World)

Mastering Captain Silver (World) starts with learning its core control scheme first: use the 8-way joystick to move, crouch, and climb, the primary attack button to swing your starting cutlass, and the secondary button to use equipped special weapons. First, prioritize collecting coin pickups scattered across every level: every 100 coins you collect grants you an extra life, which is critical for surviving the game’s steep late-game difficulty spikes. For combat, your base cutlass deals more damage than you might expect: a well-timed jumping strike to an enemy’s head will kill almost all standard foes (including pirates and skeletons) in one hit, saving you from taking unnecessary contact damage. When you find special weapon pickups, save them for boss fights rather than wasting them on common enemies: the flintlock pistol offers long-range fire for 12 shots, while the hand grenade deals area-of-effect damage that can wipe out swarms of small enemies or deal heavy damage to boss weak points. For the first port level, watch for swooping seagulls that will dive to attack you from off-screen, and avoid standing too close to the edge of the docks, as falling into the water results in an instant kill. In the jungle level, test vines before you climb them: if a vine shakes when you touch it, it is a fake that will break and send you falling into the spike pit below. For the giant octopus boss in the cave level, only attack the tips of its tentacles when they extend outward, and stay far away from its central head to avoid being hit by its blinding ink spray. For the final Captain Silver boss fight on the ghost ship, wait for him to finish his teleport animation before attacking: he has a 1-second vulnerability window right after he appears, and landing three hits to his upper torso will defeat him for good.
